Hi, I am trying to design a proximity sensor PCB using Altium. This is my first time using Altium, I am quite unfamiliar with the libraries provided. From Google, I found out that I can use the touch sensor support to design this. But, there are quite a few libraries, CapSense, Atmel, microChipTouch, QTouch. I am very confused on which one should I use to provide a proximity sensing. Is all of them provide a proximity sensing? Thanks in advance.

Hello Rosie,
Thanks for your message! What those libraries on Altium you mention offer, is an easier way to design a touch sensor, so I’m not sure if those same components would work for a proximity sensor.
I think the best way to design a PBC for a proximity sensor, is to select one sensor that meets your requirements, and once you’ve chosen one, go on the sensor’s datasheet and look for the Application Circuit recommended by the manufacturer. There you’ll see what other components you need for the sensor to work correctly, so I think that would be a good start to make a PCB design.

Thank you for the reply. That should at least give me a guidance on where do I need to start. Thanks heap once again.
