When trying to open downloaded OrCAD / Allegro footprint to version 16.5 it says "Unable to open, because it was saved under newer version of software" or something similar.

There are two versions of Allegro export on SnapEDA. Can you double-check that you selected the V16 version?

What I do is:
search for a part (in this case AT42QT2160)
click "download footprint"
click "orcad / allegro"
download completes
unzip and try to open it in the software
error message appears
There is no question about what version to download.

We wanted to know if you are still having issues while importing this part. To import the footprint simply double click on the batch file. After doing so, a dialog may popup that this is an unknown application. Click on More Info and Run anyway to run the batch file. Click yes to accept the dimension change, then select the Allegro version you’re importing into.
This video shows the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=43&v=jcfKlL2dORg but if you are using OrCAD/Allegro 16.6 or a newer version we run the batch file for you so you just have to click on the DRA file and it will open directly.

It seems that there is a difference between 16.6 and 16.5 footprint files. I installed 16.6 lite, where I can open the downloaded footprints with no issue, then I do File -> Export -> Downrev design, pick "16.5" and save it to a new file. Then this file is openable in by 16.5.
I'll check your way too.
