Hello Guys, First let me express how I am trilled to have found SnapEDA. What a great idea!
I am new at using OrCAD and I am presently experimenting the implantation of CIS.
Capture Component Information System. I managed to get the Database features to work great and now I have to understand all the capabilities. I started with the OrCAD installation included DemoBENCHACC.DBC database.
In this database are listed many parts to magically interact with Capture. Some parts listed in that DB have footprints in the proper field. If I select such a part I will see the footprint in the CIS explorer window. Some other parts like for example resistor ERJ-2GEJ12 has a footprint called SM/R_0402. The footprint is indeed in the database but will not show in the window because it is absent from the original OrCAD installation folder \pcb\pcb_lib\.
Assuming that the original OrCAD installation comes with some 600 footprint *.dra files, one could assume that any parts included in an original example database would use those original footprints. Well, it's not the case.
THE QUESTION: Is there a location where I can get those footprints that are absent from the \pcb_lib\ that appear in the example database DemoBENCHACC.DBC ?
Sorry for the extraneous length of my post. I's just that I like to be precise when I ask questions.
Thanks for your support
Fred
