Hello Jan,
Thank you for your patience while we looked into this matter.
This module features castellated pins, and the through-hole version of the footprint was created upon a customer's request. Since the manufacturer only provided a recommended layout for the SMD version of the module, our engineers used the STEP file as a reference to define the hole dimensions. The hole size specified was 1.27 mm, and we followed that as requested.
However, we discussed within our team and we agree with your feedback. Indeed, the hole size should have a smaller diameter that accommodates a standard header with a pin size of approximately 0.64 mm.
That said, we went ahead and adjusted the hole size of the footprint to 0.84 mm according to IPC standards, considering the pin size of 0.64mm. Reducing the hole size would promote better mounting stability and avoid possible solder leaks within the inner layers.
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, Jan! We deeply appreciate your insights! Feel free to reach out if you have further questions and concerns and we're here to assist.
All the best,
Dizar
