What are your top SnapEDA requests for 2021?

1

Hi everyone!

With this special year coming to an end, SnapEDA team wants to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. We also wanted to ask what are your top SnapEDA requests for 2021? We will try our best to get it scheduled. Here are some ideas to kick things off!

- What formats should we support next?
- What features would you like to see us adding?
- Is there a particular category of parts you'd like us to expand?
- Are there other types of design content that would be helpful for your designs, such as simulation models?
- What community features would you like to see added?

Thanks to everyone for a great 2020 and for being part of the largest community of electronics designers. We're excited to keep improving our product and helping you to bring new products to life faster.

SnapEDA online Library Manager!
Having my own set of component libraries that I know I can always find on to and "sync" to a new machine or a work computer.

One thing that would help me is the ability to download multiple parts for my design all at once rather than having to download one by one.

My top request would be little utility to add parts to existing KiCad libraries, without having to add/link each and every symbol as a separate library. This would be soooo easy to write and offer a lot of value for users. It's not practical to have oodles and oodles of single-part libraries linked.

I use something like the following. But... the concatenation trick only works for early/legacy 5.x .lib format, not late 5.x/6.x .kicad_sym format. I keep a legacy library hanging around for this purpose, but that's lame.

# For example STM32F407ZET6.zip:
# QFP50P2200X2200X160-144N.kicad_mod
# STM32F407ZET6.lib
# STM32F407ZET6.step

7z e $1 -o /mypath/to/footprints/existingFootprintLib/ -o outputdir *.kicad_mod -r
7z e $1 -so *.lib -r | tail -n +2 /tmp/*.lib >> /mypath/to/footprints/existingSymbolLib.lib
7z e $1 -o /mypath/to/models3D/existing3DLib/ -o outputdir *.stp *.step *.wrl -r

If I could pick _two_ top requests, I'd really like it if KiCad symbols offered the .kicad_sym format. So easy to create -and- so convenient for users.

Or, alternatively, get this to work: https://snapeda.s3.amazonaws.com/plugins/kicad/SnapEDA-KiCad-Plugin.zip
